RealGenix is a Greek whole owned subsidiary of PlumcareRWE. Established in Athens, Greece, the RealGenix runs the First Steps Initiative, aiming to sequence the DNA of newborns in Greece.
The FirstSteps initiative is a newborn genome screening program in Greece. It aims to establish universal newborn genome screening as the standard of care within five years. Additionally, it aims to establish Greece as a hub for drug development and discovery in rare diseases.
FirstSteps is currently executing a Phase 1 trial in 3 University Hospitals in Athens, Thessaloniki and Larissa. The program runs under the approval of EODY (the Green National Public Health Organisation) with RealGenix as the commercial lead.
